How we help contribute to a cleaner and safer environment

Concern for the integrity of our environment is fostering a green sensibility that is changing how organizations do business, and how industries meet their obligations to sustainability.

The paint industry is no exception. EPA regulations for VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) are tightening. There is increased regulation on air pollution, hazardous waste, worker and consumer safety, labeling, packaging and transportation. These new standards will impact paint’s raw materials in their longevity, workability, and performance.

In addition to VOCs, the paint industry is attuned to a host of concerns, including waste disposal and management, spillage, lead-based paint removal, and the cost of insurance from accidents. There is a greater challenge to stay current on OSHA/EPA compliance as well as updating equipment, skills, and safety precautions.

While balancing costs with standards is cited by many in the paint industry as a primary business challenge, encouraging indicators abound: The Association of Painting Contractors is working with 45 state and local governments to reduce the environmental impacts and cost of managing leftover latex and oil-based paint. The present cost to the industry is estimated to be over $275 million per year.

Significantly reducing the hazards of waste

MicroBlend’s groundbreaking technology, by nature, completely shifts the paint industry’s historic supply chain model and its costly methods. We eliminate or significantly reduce the waste created by customary industry processes and our chemistry does not use some products common to traditional paints that are potentially harmful to our environment.

With our APM™ system, users dispense only the paint required for a project in volumes needed for the job, only as needed, and at the point-of-sale or use. This flexibility dramatically decreases the traditional waste from unused paint. By eliminating the historic paint factory model for manufacturing, shipping, and storage of canned stock, there is no longer a sedentary accumulation of pre-mixed volatile materials anywhere in the supply chain.

MicroBlend is on the forefront of innovations in waste disposal for the paint industry. Our paint buckets may be re-cycled, when properly cleaned. Our APM™ technology enables the re-use or re-fill of paint buckets, significantly reducing the volume of empty cans and buckets clogging landfills, and we are currently testing liner technologies that will lead to the re-use of five-gallon pails.

The MicroBlend system is in compliance with every known environmental requirement, including current VOC standards and regulations. See our Master Painters Institute Approved Products listing.

MicroBlend continues to revolutionize the way our paint and paint technology contribute to a safer environment. Contact us today for more information on our support for greener sensibilities.
